Okay, I've been busy. That's no excuse for not updating my news page for six months.
There's going to be a huge amount of new stuff coming out in the next few months. Here's a little of what's in the works:
"Alphabeast" solo show at La Luz De Jesus Gallery in LA - June 6th - 28th. Come to the opening on the 6th from 8pm - 11pm.
June 6th also marks the release of the first toy in my "Alphabeast" vinyl toy series. Get on the Flopdoodle mailing list. They'll send info on how to get your hands on "Pollard" soon. More "Alphabeast" toys are on the way!
Sony will release my "Totem Pals" toy set as part of their Vanimals Zoo series. Originally planned for June, the project has been pushed back until July or August because of the SARS situation in Hong Kong.
Also from Sony is a set of little toys for their Time Capsule series. Can't say much about it, but it looks like they'll be done by November.
There's a slew of publishing projects in the works: prints, records, coasters, more stationery, a new set of interchangeable cards called "Space Totem" and the "ONE HUNDRED PAINTINGS" book!
There's probably more. In fact I'm sure there's more. I just can't keep track. If you really want news you should join the Flopdoodle mailing list. Flame-Rite is releaseing a very
limited Zippo that I designed. "Fireball"
is limited to 50 signed & numbered lighters. It's based on my "Fireball"
painting. I'm not sure of the exact day that it will be released. Just
keep checking the Flame-Rite website.
I just finished two paintings for the Pirate show at sixspace
Gallery in LA. The show opens later this month. Seonna's
in it, too!
Lot's of progress on toys. I wish I could spill the beans, but I gotta

Happy Haloween!!!
I'm releasing a new print for the Haloween season. Oghon Bat was a Japanese super-hero from back in the 20's. There was a TV show in the 60's, but mine is based more on the original (more creepy) version. The print is HUGE: 20" x 30"! It's available as part of a group Haloween show at Shop Chuey in Chinatown, downtown LA. You can order it on my shop page. For the first time I'm offering a print framed (optional), because I'm so happy with the frame job that my framer did for the one at the show. Go look at it at Shop Chuey if you can! The gallery/shop is really cool & worth the trip (unless you're from Iceland, or something).

After the opening, there were 5 of the 100 paintings still available as well as a large painting of mine. There are also a few of the 7 collaborative paintings that I did with Gary Baseman & Mark Ryden.
We published an extremely limited edition print portfolio with 6 of the 7 paintings. It is called the "Hello" portfolio. 6 giclee prints in a serigraphed portfolio case & title page. Each print is signed & numbered by the artists (two of them are collaborations with only Ryden & myself). The edition is 99 plus 11 artist proofs for each artist. Of course, very few are available. The price is $600. Please contact me if you are interested.

EVERYTHING'S HAPPENING AT ONCE!!!!
Oh, man, am I busy! I just finished a painting on a chair by Dion Neutra. It's part of the re-release of the "Boomerang" chair by House Industries. You can see it at Orange Furniture Gallery in Los Angeles. There is a silent auction going on that continues until the middle of November.
The group shows in Japan are shaping up nicely. I've been working on some colaborative paintings with Mark Ryden & Gary Baseman. They're really insane! There are some really nice items that are being produced for the shows. I'll have limited amounts of the goods available when I return. If you're on my mailing list I'll send details when they come available.
The Lucky Stack poker decks will be on my doorstep around October 14th. If you order it now (or you've already ordered) it should be in your hands by the 18th or 19th!
Seonna's brand new website is done! It's great. She's amazing.

Lot's & lot's & lots of stuff is happening! Tigerlily is the cutest baby ever. That's why I haven't been updating my site. I've been sitting around with Seonna staring at her.
Actually, I've been working like CRAZY!
The new GAMA-GO line is ready! We premered 48 new designs at the Magic Apperal Show in Vegas in August. Get yourself to the website where you can find the new goods. We've expanded to other stuff besides tee shirts. We've got purses, bags & Pajamas for the ladies. There's a knitted "Death Robot" Sweater & beanie hat for you he-men.
Toys!!! I've got two different toy projects in the works: one in Japan & one in the US. Can't say much now. But, they're gonna be really cool.
"The Lucky Stack" is a deck of cards. You'll be able to get your very own pack. I'll be showing the entire series of 55 paintings this November at Forbidden Gallery in Dallas, Texas. The decks will be distributed by Last Gasp Distribution. There's also going to be a special edition set with four 8 color serigraphs.
Seonna & I have started a publishing company called Flopdoodle (The Lucky Stack is our first project). We'll be setting up an online store where you can get our stuff.
I've got two serigraph prints at the printer as I write this. The first is "Blue Bird Band", a 7 color print based on the painting of the same title. The other one is "Bird Filled Sky", an 8 color print, also based on a painting. They're both limited to 125 signed & numbered prints. Both will be available from Burning Brush.com and at Galleries all over the place.
The Japan shows are going to be great. The line up is Me, Gary Baseman, Mark Ryden, Coop & Rockin' Jellybean. The show in Tokyo will be at Tower Records Gallery in Shibuya from October 14th until the 20th. The Kyoto show will run for the whole month of October. Mark, Gary & I are all making the trip along with some friends.
Dark Horse is publishing my "Cave-In" stationery set & a journal / sketchbook called "Birds & Beasts". They're also doing a "Kitty Adventures" stationery set by Seonna. They'll be available by Christmas.
The next ten of my 100 paintings will be at my show in Tokyo. The final ten will be sold on ebay in the next few months. Send me an email and I'll let you know when they get posted.

Tigerlily is here! Our daughter was born 7/23/02. Seonna was a bad-ass. I cried like little kid. Nothing in the world is better than being a father.

Living in the basement hobby room really sucks. I'm not meaning to complain but, damn. The house is uninhabitable because the floors & walls are getting redone. The disk drive took a dive & cost $2000.00 to fix! The fancy new Titanium Powerbook has made life harder, rather than making things easier. I'm not going to complain about all of the other crap that's going on because life is really good despite all of that crap.
Anyway, I haven't been able to update for a while so here goes:
The Auction went great. "Playing with Fire" grossed $37,000.00. The art was amazing & the new venue was plush & roomy. Thanks to all who attended, contributed & bid online. The next one is in October.
The "OTAKU!" show with myself, Coop & Glenn Barr opens june 29th at Copro/Nason Gallery . There's also another show in the back room featuring Bwana Spoons, Martin Ontiveros & more people who dig Japanese toys. Hope to see you all there.
Two new prints, "Rodan" & "Gamera" will be available at the Otaku show. They are available for pre-order now from Burning Brush.com.
The show with Tara McPhereson, Jeff Soto & Craiger at the LA LUZ DE JESUS Gallery in Hollywood opens Friday, August 1st. Some of the paintings from the show will be in BLAB! magazine #13.

Big news! This October I'll be going back to Japan for a group show with Coop, Mark Ryden & Gary Baseman. The plans are being made as we speak. I'll keep you posted.

I just posted a page with by first BLOCK for the upcoming Burning Brush Auction, "Playing with Fire - Memories of Childhood". I'm working on another one that should be done next week. It dawned on me a few hours into the first one that I was basically doing 12 paintings for this auction. Me & my big ideas. I'm planning an elaborate print set with individual prints of each side & a cut-out insert so you can make your own set of blocks.
I added a few more pieces to the PAINTINGS page.
Seonna's belly is big. She eats a lot of poo. She made me write that & she's laughing like crazy right now. Pregnancy does strange things to women.
We'll be in San Francisco next weekend for a fashion show called Counter Culture. I get to go out on the runway & represent GAMA-GO. Just like Karl Lagerfeld! My friend Ruth offered to loan me a fan. There's something like 24 new designs available. We're updateing the website. The new stuff should be up there in a few weeks.

Japan was better that we could have imagined. I'll elaborate later. For now we're off to Portland for our "Wild Kingdom" show at Gallery Bink. We just got word that both Seonna & myself have sold all but one of our paintings. And the show opens tonight. Wow! Thanks Portland! Check out the show on the Bink site. Sorry to all of those who wanted to get one of the new pieces in my ONE HUNDRED PAINTINGS series. I'm posting them today but they're all sold. I hope to get another ten done in the next few weeks.

Happy Holidays! It's vacation time & boy am I happy.

Man, we live in a crazy world. Painting & my wife are the things keeping me sane.
Speaking of painting, I've been doing a lot of it. I'll be posting a bunch of new pieces in the next week or two so keep checking in.
My first print will be available on October 15th. It is a combo of Iris print & silk-screen. You will be able to order it from the Burning Brush website. I will be selling a few of the artist's proofs (there's only 5) on my "shop" page. There are more prints in the works. Get yourself on the Burning Brush mailing list & they'll let you know when they are released.
Speaking of the Burning Brush... Damn! Things have changed. I finally stopped trying to do everything by myself. My good pals Sean Bonner & Caryn Coleman are now part of the crew & are making my life easier & the Burning Brush a lot better. If you haven't heard about the Burning Brush Print Club, you will soon. If you can afford the $1200.00 subscription price you are well advised to sign up now. If not, you will be happy to know that editons will be available seperately. The artists are pulling out all the stops for these prints. Mine will be the December edition. It's a print & an exclusive six color tee shirt of the "Ape Power" painting from House Magazine.
Starting October 6th Copro/Nason Gallery will be doing a group show with artists who have or will be showing work there. Your's truly has a few pieces involved which means...That's right. I'll be showing there in May! It will be Coop, Glenn Barr & myself exploring japanese pop mythology. I'll keep you posted.

Alarm Magazine #10 just came out & it's got my art on the cover! It's got a couple pages of stuff inside, too. Read the interview & hear all my silly opinions. Duh...
The Powerpuff Girls Golden Book that I painted finally came out. I saw it the other day & I was sad to see how washed-out the printing is. Whoever scanned the thing must have done it on a nice cheap flat-bed from 1986. Good job Golden! If you must have it try Amazon (notice my new name). Lauren Faust drew the pictures & I painted them.
The new issue of Blab! should be out soon. I did a few color pages for it.
Time Squad is still in production but, we've been informed that our second season will be our last. I got nominated for an ANNIE award. Something about production design. It was supposed to be Alex Kirwan & I together because he does all the character design. Apperantly they would only take one name. Silly.

Seonna & I recently moved to Pasadena. We live in a BRIDGE! Really, it's a 1955 post-and-beam house that spans a ravine!

Time Squad is still taking up most of my time. We just got picked-up for another season, so it looks like another 13 months of wacky time travel humor.
Just posted some of my Kaiju Series paintings. In case you don't know, "kaiju" means "giant monster" in Japanese. These monsters are from various japanese TV shows & movies from the 60's & 70's. There's lots more on the way & my collection of Japanese vinyl toys is growing at a rather alarming rate.
Powerpuff Girls creator Craig Mcracken saw a few of these paintings & asked me to draw & paint a PPG book for Golden Books. I'm just getting started on it. Not sure when it will come out, but I'm supposed to be done by the end of the year.
Also in the works is my wife, Seonna Hong's website. Her paintings in the last few Burning Brush auctions have gotten her tons of attention. She's working with Gary Baseman at Disney TV on Teacher's Pet & getting tons of comissions for original work. Check out the site. It's under construction.

Cartoons!
I'll be starting work on a new series for the Cartoon Network in May. I'll be art director, so the show should look a lot like my paintings. There will be 13 half hours made in the next year. The shows creator is Emmy winning cartoon director Dave Wasson. We worked together before on his "Tales from the Goose Lady" series @ Nickelodeon.
